Low Voltage Coil
The Low Voltage Coil (LV) consists of aluminium conductors formed in a vacuum process with epoxy resin impregnation to temperature class H or F.

Core
The core lamination is made of low loss, cold rolled grain oriented silicon steel. The cross section of the iron has a rettangular shape. The core is cut stacked using sheets propped or intercalated formation to keep the idle periods and magnetizing currents as low as possible. The core is completely coated with epoxy resin to protect it against corrosion and is earthed in accordance with the required standards.

Assembly
The coils are mounted on pre-adjusted fibreglass reinforced supports wit excellent thermal expansion and noise-absorbing properties.

Accessories
On demand, Thermistors PT100 are embedded in each coil and connected to terminals mounted on the upper clamp.

High Voltage Coil

The copper winding of the High Voltage (HV) coil is insulated using glass fiber epoxy resin laminate. The HV coil is cast into molds in a vacuum process with pure epoxy resin. The manufacturing process ensures a cavity free insulating system of the highest quality. The HV coil is free of partial discharge and protected against surges.

Tapping links are brought onto the outside of each coil and are readily adjustable when switched off. The HV coils are flame-resistant and self extinguishing. The HV coil can be designed with air ducts to cool the windings efficiently at a technically suitable coil length. Tapping links are brought out onto the outside face of each coil and are readily adjustable in deenergized state. The HV coils are hardly inflammable and self extinguishing. In case of fire no toxic fumes are produced.

Low Voltage Coil

The Low Voltage Coil (LV) consists of copper conductors formed in a vacuum process with epoxy resin impregnation to temperature class F.

Core

The core lamination is made of low loss, cold rolled grain oriented silicon steel. The cross section of the iron has a circular shape. The core is cut stacked using a "Step Lap" formation to keep the idle periods and magnetizing currents as low as possible. The core is completely coated with epoxy resin to protect it against corrosion and is earthed in accordance with the required standards.

Assembly

The coils are mounted on pre-adjusted fiberglass reinforced supports with excellent thermal expansion and noise-absorbing properties. The complete assembly is mounted on bi-directional rollers which allow movement in both directions. HV terminals and LV bus bars are normally on the opposite sides of the transformer and are mounted at easily accessible positions.

Thermistors PT100 are embedded in each LV coil and connected to terminals mounted on the upper clamp.

OIL FILLED DISTRIBUTION TRANSFORMERS

                                                                                                            MANUFACTURING FEATURES
Cores
The magnetic cores will be constructed of high grade, non aging cold rolled silicon steel laminations, having low losses and high permeability, step lap cutting. The laminations will be machine casted to ensure a thin uniform coating of insulating material, which will be heat resistant and inert to the action of hot oil.
The core will be rigidly clamped, with insulated clamping bolts, into a one-piece steel structure which will have minimum vibration and will retain its shape under short circuit conditions. These distortions will be minimised to reduce the noise level using step-lap stacking method.
The magnetic circuit will be such as to prevent static discharge and the development of short circuit paths within itself or the earthed parts.

Windings
All conductors used in the coil structures will be of Aluminium , free from scale burrs and slivers. The turns and coils will be thoroughly insulated and all insulation will be treated with Insulating varnish or equivalent compounds as necessary to maintain the full electrical and mechanical strength of the transformer over a long life. All material used will be insoluble and chemically inactive in hot transformer oil and will be stabile under all operating conditions.
The coils will be wound together and assembled so that the voltage between turns is kept as low as is consistent with good design and co-ordinating with voltage gradient distribution during voltage surge. The coils, bracing and insulation will be arranged to afford ample circulation, reduce the number of hot spots and withstand the specified transient and thermal stresses.

Clamping structures
A strong rigid clamping structure will be used to secure the interior assembly. Adequate provision will be made to prevent movement of the core and coil assembly during transport and installation.

Internal earthing
The earthing of metal parts of the core and of the clamping structure will be accessible in
Order to allow testing of the insulation.

Bases
The transformer will have rigid bases of channel iron construction, designed to prevent the retention of water and adequate to withstand movement during transportation and on site. They will be suitable for supporting the unit on a concrete foundation. Bases will be provided with the necessary jacking and hauling facilities. The tank shall be equipped with plain transport rollers.
            
Power transformers tanks
Tanks will be of electrically welded mild steel constructions stiffened and braced to prevent
Distortion or damage under service conditions or during transport by road, sea or rail or
When the complete oil-filled transformer is lifted by crane or jacks.
The tanks and conservator tanks will be thoroughly oil tight and be capable of withstanding.            
The construction of the tank prevents the accumulation of rain water on the outside surface.
The thickness of the tank bottom plate will be greater than that of the side walls.

Painting
Transformer tank, radiators, conservators, pipes shall be sand blasted before painting. This later shall withstand all tropical influences as well as aggressive gases which may be contained in the ambient air.

Short circuit withstand capability
The transformers will be capable of withstanding without damaging the effects of external short circuit
across phases or between one phase and earth on either the high or low voltage terminals with rated voltage
in opposite terminals. The transformers will withstand the thermal effects of such short circuit current for 3
Seconds. The transformers will be capable of withstanding on any tapping without any damage under
service conditions, the electromagnetic forces arising under short circuit conditions.

Cover and gaskets
Tanks covers will be of adequate strength to prevent distortion when lifting. They will be provided with the
necessary adequately-sized inspection opening and thermometer pockets plus lifting facilities.
Design will ensure the elimination of air pockets during oil filling procedure and shall permit an easy passage
of gas bubbles to the Buchholz relay. Water will not accumulate on the outside surface.
All gaskets for openings and flanged connections will be water, hot-oil and vacuum tight, special materials to  withstand temperature down to minus 40°C.

Corrugated fins  of distribution  transformers
Fins will be directly connected to the tank.  
Fins will withstand the pressure conditions specified for the tank.

Tapping’s for distribution transformers
The tapping’s will be in the high voltage windings and suitable for off-circuit  tap-changing. The type of
regulation will be constant flux regulation. The tapping power will be equal to the rated power for connections
and all tapping’s.

Bushings
All transformers bushings shall comply with IEC. The bushings shall be easily replaced in a simple
manner when required. The flanges shall be earthed.

Cooling
Transformer temperature rises shall not exceed that specified in IEC 60076. The transformer shall be equipped with detachable flanged radiators and shall be designed for ONAN cooling.

Transformer oil
The transformer oil shall be pure mineral oil free from additives, acid and with properties complying with IEC 296. The oil shall be PCB free. Type mineral oil.

Off-tap changer
The transformer shall be equipped with an off-circuit tap-changer on HV winding operating and should be provided with remote shaft control from ground complete with locking feature.
